A NATIONWIDE HUMANITARIAN APPEAL TO SUPPORT THE FLORES EARTHQUAKE AND NEPAL FLOOD VICTIMS – The Catholic Bishops’ Conference Of Malaysia (CBCM) is appealing to all Catholics to contribute generously towards this Humanitarian Aid for the victims of disasters in Flores and Nepal. OCTOBER ROSARY – October Rosary recitation at the BSC Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes are as follows:
• Rosary in Chinese: 7.30pm – 8.00 pm
• Rosary in English: 8.00pm – 8.30 pm

During weekends, Rosary will be recited in the Church 30 minutes before Mass begins.

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE CARE OF CREATION – which began on 1st September, continues until 4th October. Let us continue to pray for the care of our common home and ask God to help us become faithful and responsible stewards of His creation.

The ANNUAL WORLDWIDE CHILDREN’S EUCHARISTIC HOLY HOUR – will be celebrated on Friday, 2nd October, 8:00 pm at Blessed Sacrament Church. This sacred tradition is a wonderful opportunity for our children to come together in prayer, adoration, and reflection before the Blessed Sacrament, joining the children worldwide to pray for peace.

We warmly invite parents, children, and parishioners to join in this meaningful gathering.

EXAMINATION MASS 2026 – will be organised by the Catholic Teachers’ Guild of Sarawak on Friday, 2nd October, at 7:30 pm at St. Joseph’s Cathedral for students preparing for their upcoming public exams like UASA, SPM and STPM; as well as other school, private, and university exams. All are welcome.

BB PESTA PENANG 2026 – The 11th Kuching Boys’ Brigade is raising funds to support our boys’ participation in BB Pesta Penang 2026, which will be held from 28th December 2026 to 1st January 2027. Homemade pastries will be available for sale at the stall at the church main entrance. Do drop by the stall and show your support! Every purchase helps our boys on their journey to Pesta. CATHOLIC WELFARE SERVICES (CWS) / HOME OF PEACE (HOP) THANKSGIVING MASS – will be celebrated on Saturday, 10th October, at 10:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church. All benefactors, friends, and parishioners are cordially invited to join in giving thanks to the Lord for His blessings and for the generosity of our benefactors and friends.

CATHOLIC NURSES’ GUILD KUCHING (CNGK) SPIRITUAL RETREAT – will be held on Saturday and Sunday, 10th and 11th of October, at Gethsemane Pilgrimage Centre Bunan Gega. The theme for the weekend retreat is “Making a Difference”, and the invited speaker is Sr. Angelin Ganapiragasam.

50th GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION – A Mass of Thanksgiving and Eucharistic Celebration will be held on Sunday, 18th October, at 4:00 pm at St Joseph’s Cathedral, followed by a Eucharistic Procession to the Waterfront area. All are welcome!

ENGLISH SUNDAY SCHOOL – TEACHERS’ ASSISTANTS NEEDED – The Sunday School invites parishioners who have a heart for children and are willing to share their time, talents and faith to serve as Teachers’ Assistants. No teaching experience is required—just a willing heart to help our children grow in faith and love for God. “MARIAN TALKS” (IN ENGLISH) – The Faith Formation Committee of the St. Joseph’s Parish Pastoral Council is organizing a series of “Marian Talks” in conjunction with the Month of the Holy Rosary. The talks will be held on 1st, 8th, 15th, 20th and 29th October at the Cathedral 7.30pm onwards, and will be conducted by the seminarians from St. Peter’s College. These talks will explore the Catholic Church’s deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and provide an explanation of the four Marian dogmas: Mary, Mother of God (Theotokos), Mary’s Perpetual Virginity, The Immaculate Conception and The Assumption of Mary. Each session will conclude with the recitation of the Holy Rosary, offered in honour of the Month of the Rosary.

Come and deepen your understanding of our Catholic faith and discover the beautiful role of Mother Mary in the life of the Church. All are welcome!

CHOICE KUCHING 40th ANNIVERSARY –

CHOICE Kuching will celebrate an Opening Mass and a Thanksgiving Mass on Friday, 23rd October, at 4:30 pm at St. Peter’s Church, Padungan. This Mass will serve as the Opening Mass for the CHOICE International Conference Malaysia 2026 and a Thanksgiving Mass marking 40 years of CHOICE Kuching.

The celebrations will continue with the 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner on Saturday, 24th October, from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm at Li Garden Restaurant, CityONE Megamall, Kuching. LITURGICAL MUSIC WORKSHOP – The Kuching Archdiocesan Youth Commission is organising a Liturgical Music Workshop at the Sts. John & Lucy Room, Level 2, A.C.C.P.C., on Saturday, 24 October, from 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm. This formation workshop is open to all Catholic youths aged 16 years and above. It includes input sessions, workshops, practical liturgy, and reflections to help participants deepen their understanding of the Church’s liturgy, sacred music, and related Church teachings. The speaker will be Mr Francisco Overee from the Diocese of Malacca-Johore Youth Ministry.

2026 “I AM” ALPHA CATHOLIC YOUTH LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE – KAYC and Alpha Malaysia are partnering up for a 2-day youth leadership conference, taking place on 14th – 15th November at ACCPC.
