| 2 | SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY – The Malaysian- Singapore-Brunei Catholic Bishop’s Conference have decided to transfer the celebration of Assumption from Saturday, 15th August, to Sunday, 16th August. The liturgy for that weekend, the 20th Sunday of Ordinary Time, will be replaced by the liturgy for the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (inclusive of Sunset Mass). | ||||||||||||||||||
| 3 | AN INVITATION TO DISCIPLESHIP FORMATION: “FOLLOWING JESUS IN MARK’S GOSPEL” (CHINESE STREAM) is a 9 week interactive formation program led by Archbishop Emeritus John Ha and his team on every Saturday, 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm starting from 15th August until 21st November at St Mary Function Hall, Level 2, A.C.C.P.C.
In conjunction with the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Kuching Archdiocese, the above will be the first of its 5-year scriptural program focusing on Grace (Year 2026) | Gratitude (Year 2027) | Growth (Year 2028) | Gather (Year 2029) | Glory (Year 2030). “CHIAROSCURO: THE BATTLE OF THE VIRTUES AND VICES IN THE PRECAUTIONS OF ST. JOHN OF THE CROSS” is a talk organised by Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites (OCDS) Christ The King Community on Friday, 28th August from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm at St. Augustine AVA room, Parish Centre. In this talk, Fr. George Ho, OCD will reflect on the inner struggle between virtue and vice in the Christian life through the teachings of St. John of the Cross. Drawing from the saint’s Precautions — a short collection of spiritual counsels and practical guidelines written for Carmelite friars seeking holiness — he will explore how God purifies and transforms the soul through prayer, discipline, and grace, leading us from darkness into the light of Christ. | 6 | LITURGICAL MUSIC WORKSHOP – The Kuching Archdiocesan Youth Commission is organising a Liturgical Music Workshop at the Sts. John & Lucy Room, Level 2, A.C.C.P.C., on Saturday, 24 October, from 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm. This formation workshop is open to all Catholic youths aged 16 years and above. It includes input sessions, workshops, practical liturgy, and reflections to help participants deepen their understanding of the Church’s liturgy, sacred music, and related Church teachings. The speaker will be Mr Francisco Overee from the Diocese of Malacca-Johore Youth Ministry. Those interested may register by scanning the QR code provided. The registration fee is RM20 per person, and the registration deadline is Saturday, 10 October. |

THE BUNAN RESILIENCE PROJECT is a pilot project of the Archdiocese of Kuching to support the farmers of Bunan by marketing their produce in Kuching. By doing so, we help them to remain economically resilient in the face of growing uncertainties.
