As our country is preparing for the upcoming General Election, it is important for Christians not just to vote but to learn and take part in the election process. A Polling Agent Counting Agent (PACA) training will be conducted by Rise of Sarawak Efforts (R.O.S.E) where participants will be training using fun and interactive methods to learn the importance of the role of a PA/CA in the Polling room or stream; among other things, they will learn how to protect voter secrecy & how to prevent spoilt votes as well as ensuring that only those who are on the electoral roll get the right to vote! Counting Agents also play a crucial role because ALL our votes are counted in each of the stream (saluran) and tallied at the main centre. Hence the need for good CAs to oversee the counting process and to maintain its integrity! Anyone over the age of 21 years are eligible to attend the PACA training. Once trained they will be fully equipped to volunteer with whichever candidate or political party that they choose.
If you want to do more than just vote on Polling Day, volunteering as a PACA is one way in which Christians can become involved in the democratic and electoral process. We urge those who care about upholding righteousness and clean and fair elections to join in the training. Language use in the delivery will be English, BM and Chinese depending on the participants. (Note: EC’s forms are in BM). The training will be conducted in Blessed Sacrament Church Hall on the 3rd of February 2018 (Saturday) from 1pm to 5pm. Registration can be done by sending your details to my@sarawakrose.org or contact Simon at 019-8370077 or Francis at 016-5660375. You can also register online here.
