A Healing of Families (HOF) seminar was organised by the Emmaus Servant Community at the BSC Hall from 22-24 June, 2018. Participants from the various parishes in the Kuching Archdiocese were joined by out-station participants from Sibu and Miri, as well as some Christian brothers and sisters from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

The seminar, based mainly on the teachings of Fr. Yozefu-B Ssemakula, a Catholic priest currently serving in the Archdiocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, Florida (USA), focused on “how to pray effectively for those stubborn personal and familial problems.”

Praise and Worship

This HOF seminar also saw the introduction of a new simplistic approach to forgiveness and healing.

As with past HOF seminars, the out-pouring of love and mercy from our heavenly Father was evident. Many participants were able to experience the presence of the Holy Spirit, manifesting in spiritual and physical healing.

Damien a cancer survivor, had come to share how his image of God as a loving Father contributed to him getting a new lease on life. “It is this intimate relationship between God and I (father-son relationship), that has enabled God’s graces to flow into me. His love has sustained and extended my life.”

One participant shared her vision of her dead grandmother looking very happy, as if something had been ‘lifted’ from her.

Another participant saw a vision of the Divine Mercy with glowing rays of blood and water emanating from the heart of Jesus.

Yet another, sensed a feeling of heaviness that had earlier enveloped the seminar hall, being lifted up at the end of the seminar, to produce light and calm.

Sharing their personal testimonies

Some participants experienced a light constriction at the chest, which later gave way to feelings of peace and joy.

There were several testimonies of visions of “something being lifted up” from them leaving only feelings of “lightness” in their place.

A first-time participant said he found the ‘missing piece’ to his ‘jigsaw puzzle’. The seminar also provided many answers to his otherwise unanswered questions.

Overall, the HOF seminar was able to fulfill the wishes of many participants who had come with a bagful of expectations.
