The 11th Kuching Company Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Brigade successfully held a 3D2N camp from 30 November – 2 December 2018 at the Blessed Sacrament Church.

The camp, with the theme “I have decided” attracted a total of 30 boys and girls between the ages of 8 to 12. It was facilitated by 12 officers and helpers in various capacities.

The activities of the camp were carried out according to the 4 areas of focus of the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade; namely Spiritual, Social, Educational and Physical.

Throughout the 3 days, the boys and girls were also challenged to make several decisions, in line with the theme of the camp. This included choosing their group name and chant, how to spend money on rewards and materials for games, and ultimately how to make conscious decisions to follow Jesus in their daily lives.

Furthermore, the boys and girls also learned about important life skills such as, collaboration and leadership, and how to be independent and disciplined. They were trained to make their own beds, cook their own meals, wash their own dishes and even clean the toilets!

It was indeed a unique experience for everyone. After all, it was the first time for many of them to spend a few days away from the comforts of home and their parents!

On the last day of camp, the boys and girls honoured the Lord’s Day by celebrating Mass in full uniform. They also joined the children’s liturgy to learn about God’s message in this season of Advent.

The camp ended with an award presentation ceremony at the parish hall, attended by parents and relatives of the boys and girls. Of course, there was also an overflowing amount of food and everyone enjoyed the time together in fellowship.
