BSC KUCHING: Blessed Sacrament Church organized an afternoon talk on “Awareness for Child Protection: Protecting and Supporting Children” on 26 January 2019.
As a follow-up, another talk was organised on 24 February focusing on children in the 7-12 years age group. About 300 BSC Sunday School students from the English and Chinese mediums attended the talk held at both the parish hall and classrooms.
The talks were centred on the human anatomy. Representatives from SWWS educated the children on the proper names of their body parts; safe and unsafe touches; areas that are considered private parts and situations when their private parts should not be touched.
The children also learnt the difference between secrets and promises; people they can trust, and to report if inappropriate acts are done on them.
Songs and videos were introduced to illustrate safe and unsafe behaviours and how to protect themselves.
Part 3 has been scheduled to take place on 17 March from 8 am – 10 am.
