BSC KUCHING: On 24 August 2019, in conjunction with Merdeka Day on the following weekend, the BSC Tuition Ministry organised a Merdeka Day Walk with the teachers and pupils in the vicinity of the church.

More than 20 pupils turned up for the walk. The event started with a short speech by Simon Pui who reminded the pupils to be thankful for the peace and unity that we are enjoying in our country.

After the opening prayer led by Justin Ho, a lively rendering of patriotic songs followed before the commencement of the procession. With flags and song lyrics in hand, the pupils and the teachers walked in lines, singing with much gusto around the church building, despite the slight haze.

The event ended with a colouring competition in St. Monica’s room, Block B. All pupils gave their best in completing their Merdeka-themed art pieces.

Each pupil was given a token for his/her effort and the best five pieces were awarded on the weekend after 31 August. First prize winner was Charise Tiong. Second prize winner was Callista Chai and Jerstein Kallang clinched the third prize.
