BSC KUCHING: Thirty carolers from the Emmaus Youth Ministry belted out Christmas songs in a three-evening carolling event from December 20 to December 22, 2019. This annual event’s aim is to share the joy of Christmas with Blessed Sacrament Church parishioners.

The carolers kicked off this year’s Christmas carolling by receiving blessings from Fr Felix Au and performing a few carols in church after Friday’s daily Mass.

The group sang five songs in the 17 houses, a kindergarten and restaurant they visited, bringing the yuletide season’s joy to each venue. They enjoyed decadent light refreshments served thereafter.

Among the carols sung were Silent Night, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Little Drummer Boy. The hosts were encouraged to sing along with the carolers, uplifting the Christmas spirit in their premises.  On top of spreading the Christmas joy, the carolers also enjoyed themselves.

“The whole experience of carolling was fun and joyful because we got to bring a smile to people’s faces,” said Emmaus Youth member, Barry.

Isabelle, also a member of the Emmaus Youth said she had fun and was excited to see new members of the youth group joining the carolling event.

“Even though it was quite tiring, the end result was quite fun and a job well done,” Octovia added.

For the Emmaus Youth Ministry, the delight in the faces of the people they sang to was reward enough for the three months they spent planning and practising for the event. They look forward to next year’s carolling calendar.
