BSC KUCHING: In preparing for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, Blessed Sacrament Church (BSC) held an Advent Carol Service on 11 December.

Similar to previous years, the evening service was in English and Chinese with evocative scripture readings, meaningful testimonies and cheerful carols.

Fr Felix Au, the rector of BSC expounded that Advent is about preparing for three comings:
• the birth of Jesus Christ
• the last judgement day of the living and the dead
• the coming of Jesus into our hearts

Fr Felix called on all to reject sins and darkness and fill our hearts with God’s unconditional love; to grow in faith and to do God’s will like Mother Mary did a long time ago in Bethlehem.

God’s infinite love offers us our salvation freely, but at a great cost. The Son of Man died on the Cross so that we can have eternal life. Jesus Christ is the greatest Gift of all to mankind from God.

The Advent Carol Service was made more meaningful with the testimonies of Joyce Ting and Jane Lu.

Joyce shared how God renewed her spirit to go the “extra mile” in giving her time and effort to the Chinese Youth Ministry of BSC. After all, Jesus went the “extra mile” for the lost sheep.

Jane, recently baptised, reflected on God’s love and blessings to overcome her challenges. She recounted how the miraculous love of God, and the new loving family she has found in Church, has given her a great sense of peace and joy.

The grand finale of the Advent Carol Service was the Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Throughout the service, the church resonated with the sounds of joyful carols.
